Co-hosted by GalaxyArt and the Faculty of Arts and Design of Macau Polytechnic University, this exhibition in two parts merges visual arts and media arts, inviting you on an inspiring journey that bridges tradition and modernity.
The ancient term for galaxy—xinghan—is specially chosen for the Chinese title of the exhibition “The Scrolls of Stars”, as it stands as a poetic symbol of freedom and the vast cosmos. This overarching theme serves as the backbone of the first half of our exhibition. Traditional landscapes of Chinese painting collide fiercely with the cutting-edge waves of digital art; while heavy brushstrokes of oil painting intertwine with the dynamic freedom of ink splashes, constructing a dreamlike realm of light and shadow, presenting a dialogue that transcends time and space.
This exhibition brings together the works of over twenty talented artists who are teachers, alumni and students of Macau Polytechnic University. Their artistic creations span from paintings to multisensory installations and audio-visual pieces—a rich and diverse collection exploring the influence of traditional Chinese culture on modern art.
The works of Macanese-Portuguese artist Cristina Vinhas make up the second part of our exhibition. Titled “Nature, My Muse,” her art jewellery collection combines contemporary Western concepts with Eastern aesthetics. Utilizing materials such as mother-of-pearl, jade, driftwood, glass, and rare crystals, the artist celebrates the grandeur of mountains, beauty of flowers, vibrancy of corals, and the freedom of birds, sculpting a fascinating world with her precious pieces.
Over the past two decades, Cristina has crafted exquisite works spanning nearly ten jewellery series, decorations, and glass art pieces. Her latest collection is a fresh and delightful ode to the season of blossom. All of her exhibited items are available for purchase—an exceptional opportunity not to be missed.
Join us and immerse yourself in a galaxy of inspiration presented by outstanding artistic talents of Macau.
